Fuel oil (F.O) prices closed flat yesterday in Singapore market. Both 180 cSt and 380 cSt graded fuel oil (F.O) prices inched $1 or 0.21% down at $483.5 and $453.5 while MGO prices are slipped by $8 to $586.5. The global crude oil indexes have fallen by 2.6% after a major dive on Wednesday on piling up of U.S stocks and weak economic conditions that dented U.S equity markets. The latest preliminary data from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) showed that the Bunker sales in Singapore are remained flat in June.
IMO 2020 NEWS // DMB VS VLSFO
Bunker buyers in the Russian Far East are showing interested for DMB graded material to comply with the upcoming 0.5% global sulfur cap, despite the availability of a less expensive VLSFO product. The DMB is around 10 cSt while VLSFO blend is in the 30-40 cSt range. Shifting from HFO to DMB will cause a vessel to lose speed due to it being a much lighter product. Increasing the viscosity of VLSFO will cost penalty and also lift the sulfur content.
