A Solvent is a liquid that dissolves a solute. Solvents are organic chemicals and form an important part of the Indian petrochemical industry. The Industry is dominated by PSUs and private companies. The prices of derivatives like chemicals and solvents are vulnerable to crude price volatility. For example Benzene is produced from naphtha, which is made from crude oil. Phenol and acetone are produced from benzene and propylene. Following the world crude crude price index, Oil marketing companies revise the solvents prices on fortnightly basis.
The whilte oils / solvents and special products like Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO), Hexane , SBP and Benzene prices are unchanged and Toluene prices are increased today by the oil marketing companies in India wef 16/01/2020 for the second half of Jan, 2020.
In Mumbai, MTO(Mineral Turpentine Oil ) prices are unchanged at Rs.64000 per Kl, Hexane prices are untouched at Rs.59100/- per KL, SBP prices are remained at 61650/- per Kl while Benzene prices are sold at Rs.53530/- per Mt and Toluene prices are increased by Rs.1250 per Mt to Rs.57500/- per Mt. Sulphur prices are unchanged at Rs.6500/- per Mt.
